It's crazy how a lot of these indie circles share the exact same interests that I do - I am currently daily driving Linux and hope to be able to set up a lightweight home server soon!

That's a hard question! I know a few good communities about Linux and few cults too, but never seen any of these two worlds to merge into one community before... But I have a good feeling you could find communities like this at Matrix. Maybe you could register at https://private.coffee/ (I'm there too) and search from that I've seen a few niche communities there and even if you don't find one, you can always create one! ^^
